Detroit Goodfellows Elect New Officers and Board of Directors
DETROIT, March 22, 2011
Now in its 97th year of ensuring “No Kiddie Without a Christmas,” the Old Newsboys’ Goodfellow Fund of Detroit has elected new officers and board members.
Bloomfield Hills resident Michael P. Coakley was elected president of the Detroit Goodfellows; he has been a member since 1987. Coakley is an attorney at Miller Canfield. He and his wife Beth have two children.
South Lyon resident Ken Neal was elected first vice president; he has been a member since 2004. Neal owns Win Win Group, a printing and promotional products company based in South Lyon. He and his wife Monica have two children.
Frank J. Brady, Jr., was elected as second vice president. He has been a member since 1975 and served as president of the Goodfellows in 1983. A retiree from GM, Brady resides with his wife in Grosse Pointe.
The Detroit Goodfellows Board of Directors also has a new member, Patrick Brady, who isthe great-great-nephew of Detroit Goodfellows founder James J. Brady. A Goodfellow since 2000, Brady works in Information Technology with Ally Financial Inc. He resides in Plymouthwith his wife and child.
The Detroit Goodfellows Executive Committee will again be comprised of Birmingham resident Mike Predhomme, treasurer and member since 1986; Huntington Woods resident Jon Haber, assistant treasurer and member since 1970; Grosse Pointe Farms resident Peter W. Waldmeir, secretary and member since 1985; and, Detroit resident Suzanne Rabideau, assistant secretary and member since 1984.
Last year, Detroit Goodfellows exceeded its fundraising goal of $1.3 million and distributed 36,000 holiday gift boxes to children in Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park and River Rouge. The Goodfellows’ goals for 2011 are to raise $1.3 million and distribute 35,000 gift boxes.
