Detroit Goodfellows Tribute Breakfast 30 will honor WJR radio host Paul W. Smith with the prestigious Edward H. McNamara Goodfellow of the Year Award, which is given annually to noteworthy individuals who have significantly contributed to the community.  The event, created by former Wayne County Executive Edward H. McNamara, draws prominent Detroit and Michigan business and political leaders to raise funds to help Detroit Goodfellows in its mission to ensure “no kiddie without a Christmas.”  

Tickets for the 30th annual Tribute Breakfast are available for purchase by contacting Sari Klok-Schneider at 586-775-6139 or  Regular individual tickets are $150 or $1,500 for a table of 10. There are also special $10,000 and $5,000 Santa Circle tables and additional corporate sponsorships are also offered. In celebration of the 30th annual Tribute Breakfast, we are offering individuals 30 years old and younger specially priced tickets for $30. 

Revenue raised at the benefit event will go toward our 2019 fundraising goal of $1.1 million, which will help provide 30,000 holiday gift packages containing clothing, books, candy and toys for needy children in Detroit, Highland Park, Harper Woods, River Rouge and Hamtramck. 

A still to be named young community member will also be recognized at the event as the Ernest Lofton Junior Goodfellow of the Year. The Junior Goodfellow of the Year Award recognizes a 13-18-year-old who makes a positive difference through community service or other volunteer activities helping people in need. Nominations of individuals who reside in Detroit, Highland Park, Harper Woods, River Rouge or Hamtramck (the communities the Detroit Goodfellows serve) can be submitted through Aug. 20 by email to Sari Klok Schneider at  Submissions should include the candidate’s name, why he or she should be recognized with this honor, and contact info of the person making the nomination.
